In the interest of full-disclosure: I have no relationship with odoo other than I am a very happy customer and I’ve done a few client implementations.

I first came across oDoo a few years ago when I was helping a client solve a large, expensive logistics issue that was core to their business. They had a combination of a 20+ year old, home-grown solution and a very overpriced and underperforming SAP instance that they hated.

If you’ve not heard of odoo, it’s a bit hard to describe, but I typically call it a very ambitious and unbelievably powerful cloud-based business operating system. In fact, it’s pretty hard to imagine a business that wouldn’t find great value in one of their apps. If you go full ham with odoo, you could virtually run your entire business inside the platform. Even brick-and-mortar businesses. The apps and modules are absolutely mind-boggling and the featureset and implementation are fantastic.

One key area I’m always on the lookout for is: How well does it integrate with other stuff? Well, there’s good news there as well. The API is well-documented and the object structure is very sane and uncomplicated. It took me about 30 minutes to build a two-way sync between my odoo CRM app and my asset-management tool. Check out the list of full-featured apps they offer:

By the way, these are just the categories they can handle. There are over 70 odoo apps (and many, many third-party ones).

Anyway, if you’re looking to replace your expensive, cumbersome infrastructure with a cloud-based, lightweight solution, we would love to help you!
